Introduction
Hey, I'm Emma. I'm from Finland, but now I'm living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have to say that I'm having a great time here in Brazil even though I miss Finland. The three best things about Brazil are the beach, the school and my awesome friends. I just started 8th grade and I'm really exited for this year. This year I'm dong cheerleading as a school activity. I have never done cheerleading before so I'm exited to know how it is going to be. I also play guitar, but I'd like to start playing drum. I'm a bit worried because this year I'm going to have a lot of homework, but I'm still sure that I'm going to have an awesome year.
This year I will read a lot of books for school. I have never liked the books that I have read for school, but sometimes they might have something interesting. Sometimes I find it hard to find a good book. I mostly love thriller and comic books, I don't know what makes me like them. There are also other types of books that I might like as long as I get that feeling that I just can't stop reading because I can't hold down to know what is going to happen next.
Writing doesn't inspire me much. But if I had to choose something to write about I would probably write about someone I admire, for example I could write about a good friend of mine. I should improve my writing in many ways; I should use more academic language, I should be more open minded and I could also spend more time writing.
I have a couple of goals for ESL. The first goal is to become a better reader. I want to be able to read in front of the whole class without the thought that someone is going to laugh at me. I also want to use more expressions while reading. How am I going to improve my reading skill? Well the answer is obvious I'm just going to read more and I should also try to read in front of my family or my friends. My other goal for ESL is improving my writing skills. I want to learn to use more academic language and I also want to learn to be a faster writer because I spend too much time thinking. I am going to improve my writing skills by writing more during my free time. In the end of the year I'm going to compare the writings that I did in the beginning of the year to the writings that I wrote in the end of the year and that is how I will see how much I have improved. I can't wait to see my improvements! Have a wonderful year!
